Unit 6 At one with nature
Chemical pesticides and artificial fertilisers were believed to havebenefited agriculture, but over time, experts have found their long-term use can harmboth the soil and people’s health, thusleading to more problems. As a result, organic farming is designedto grow good crops while preventing damage. Therefore, many consumers have turned to organic food which has a more pleasant flavour.
However, organic farming can notreplace chemical farming entirely because it only provides limited food. Therefore, there is still a long way to go to keep people living in harmony with nature.
