[2024·江西省赣州市高三一模]On Tuesday night, Jasmine found her list of things to do, which was supposed to be under her pillow. The first thing on the list was to do her homework. However, she did not have time for that. She needed to prepare for the trip that their parents had planned for that weekend instead. That list was prepared by Clyde, her elder brother. After she had packed all the items on the list, she quickly fell asleep.
The next morning, Clyde and Jasmine boarded the school bus as usual. They sat together at the back of the bus. When the bus arrived at school, everyone got off the bus, except for Jasmine. She remembered her incomplete homework and feared the thought of being scolded by her teacher, Mrs. Geller. Jasmine was absorbed in her thoughts.
Mr. Patterson did not bother checking if there were any students left on the bus. He drove the bus to the parking lots, got off the bus and walked towards the school building.
Clyde walked through the main entrance and realized that his sister was nowhere in sight. “Where's Jasmine?” he thought. Clyde turned around and decided to find his missing sister. Finally, he found his sister was trapped on the bus. Clyde quickly pressed the emergency door release button and out stepped Jasmine, with beads of sweat dotting her head.
“Clyde. I'm not looking forward to going to class, and it's your fault. I didn't do my homework last night because you didn't help me pack for our trip,” Jasmine muttered.
“What do you mean? Didn't you have time to do it after packing? I think you should own up to Mrs Geller and take responsibility for your own actions,” Clyde advised.
Jasmine went to class. “Mrs Geller, I'm sorry that I didn't do my homework,” said Jasmine.
“Isn't that assignment due tomorrow?” Mrs Geller said and gave Jasmine an incredulous look. Jasmine stood there with her mouth open.
