Behavior Specialists
In both public and private schools, behavior specialists are becoming more common. These specialists are responsible for helping students with special needs, such as students with the behavior disorder, to get the support they need to succeed in school. The specialist works with the family and the student's doctors to come up with a plan. The specialist may decide whether the student needs more time for taking tests or needs a smaller classroom, for example.
Athletic Coaches
Coaches are needed in both middle and high schools for sports. From soccer to swimming, many schools offer many sports activities to students. The coaches help students practice, improve their performance for competitions and represent the school at meetings.
Music Teachers
Music teachers can not only teach the history of music, but also instruct students how to play certain instruments. In larger schools, the music teacher may have a student orchestra (管弦乐队) to run and maintain, planning concerts and managing practice plans.
College Counselors
College counselors play a large role in the lives of high school students. They help students find their interest in a major, consider colleges and universities, apply for admission and scholarships and even help students apply their Advanced Placement(美国大学预修课程) for college credits.
Librarians
Librarians manage the school libraries, helping the school keep a good supply of educational books and novels too. They list and manage book circulation (流通) , help students with research and work with other libraries to get other resources.
