The Chester A.Arthur House at 13th and P Street NW is a history lover’s delight.The 1883 home was built for an Undersecretary of the Treasury in President Arthur’s administration.Owner Donald Smith,a historical fiction writer and former journalist,can provide background on the house and everything in it.A room—there are four—is $135 to $205 a night.The room has a high-quality leather queen-size bed.The bathroom has imported Italian tiles (瓷砖),and an original Victorian sliding door.Book at chesterarthurhouse.com.
Malolo Bed and Breakfast
Malolo at 5213 B St SE is the city’s first B&B east of the Anacostia River.Malolo has four bedrooms at $189 to $283 a night this season.Co-founder and chef (厨师) George Lopez decorated each of the rooms in a tropical (热带的) style.The house also has spa-like bathrooms.Lopez prepares breakfast at guests’ request.There’s an additional fee.Malolo requires at least a two-night stay and offers free parking.Book at malolobandb.com or on sites such as booking.com.
