The Monkees
In 1967, in a children's show, four unknown youths became the world's most popular pop band. The members are Davy Jones, Mickey Dolenz, Peter Tork and Mike Nesmith. In America, their record sales were much more than Elvis Presley①and the Beatles②. They are the Monkees. But the Monkees were not a real band；they were just a money machine which was driven by ego③ and ambition④.There was no doubt that finally the Monkees became a success. It was the first commercial pop band. With radiation⑤ wide television programmes and catchy⑥ pop songs, they attracted a lot of admirers. It is worth mentioning that in 2010, the Hong Kong film Thief of Time also used the Monkees'song I wanna be free which helped create a good atmosphere for the story.
