Fifteen-year-oldDavidhadspentsixmonthsplanningahiketothebottomoftheGrandCanyon(大峡谷)withhisclassmates.Noonecouldhaveknownitwouldendintragedy.
Whenthegrouparrivedatthestartingpointforthehike,theyfoundtherewasaproblemwiththeirpermit.Tosolveit,thefiveboysandthreeleaderswalkedbackuptotherangerstation(护林站)—onlytofinditwasclosed.
Whentheboysgotmoving,theydalreadydrunkmostoftheirwater.Intheburningsun,temperaturesreacheda115°F.Eventheleaderswerehavingtroublewalkingon.ButthegroupfinallymadeitdowntothebottomoftheGrandCanyon.Heatevilwasoccurring. “Mysonmadeitabout100yardsfromtheriverandthendropped,” sayshisfather,Robin.Twoboysofthemracedtotherivertogethimwater.
