资源简介

A

Next time your pet dog starts to pant (喘息) and pace (踱步) during a thunderstorm or when you have to leave for a dayyou know separation anxiety is about to happenand you should consider playing some musicbut not just any music.According to a new study published in the journal of Physiology & Behaviordogs prefer the sounds of reggae (雷盖音乐) or soft rock to any other type.

For the studyconducted by the Scottish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA)researchers played five different types of music for shelter dogs.During the studyclassical musicsoft rockreggaepop music and Motown were played. While the dogs were listeningresearchers took note of their heart ratescortisol (皮质醇) levels and behavior.

It turns out that dogs are fans of Bob Marleyjust like we do on our beach vacationsas results showed that dogs were less stressed while listening to soft rock or reggae. When they were listening to Motowntheir stress levels were higher.

Based on the results of the studyresearchers believe that dog owners can play reggae or soft rock music for their dogs during high stress situations. For dogs entering a shelter for the first timethe new surroundings will make them horrifiedcausing them to bark or shakeand dogs living at home can be fearful of loud noises when their owners leave.

This study discovered shelter dogs listening to classical music were more relaxedbarking less and lying down more.Unfortunatelythe study also found that by the seventh day of listening to classical musicthe dogs returned to restlessness. This led the researchers to believe that the animals were getting used to the musicor possibly getting bored. Those previous results are what led the researchers to try various types for the new study.
