Martin Luther King, Jr.was a great man who worked for racial equality (种族平等) and civil rights (民权) in the United States of America.He was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia.Martin had a brother and a sister.Both his father and grandfather were ministers (牧师)．His mother was a school teacher.She taught him how to read before he went to school.
Young Martin was a good student in school.He enjoyed reading books, singing, riding a bicycle, and playing football and baseball.Martin went to Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia when he was only 15 years old.

Dr.King was killed on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee.To remember him as an important leader, we celebrate Martin Luther King Day each year on the third Monday in January.And August 28, the day of Dr.King's speech I Have a Dream, is called “Dream Day”．
