Francisco de Goya was a Spanish artist.Below are some of his famous works.
The Kite
It is a work dating from around 1777.It is held by the Prado Museum in Madrid.The painting is of a group of people just outside a town or a city.The left side of the painting shows five young men around a rock.Three of them are looking at the kite.The right side of the painting shows a tree，under which a dog is lying.There are other people standing behind the main group.
The Forge
Completed sometime around 1817，it is an oil painting done on a piece of canvas.The painting focuses entirely on three blacksmiths (铁匠) at work.It is now owned by the Frick Collection in New York City.
The Dog
Goya painted it on the walls of his house between 1819 and 1823.It shows the head of a small dog looking upwards.The dog itself is almost lost in the rest of the image.It is considered one of the world's first symbolist paintings.The painting was transferred (转移) to canvas in 1878 and now hangs in the Prado Museum.
The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters
The etching (蚀刻版面) was completed around 1799.In this work，Goya imagines himself asleep among his drawing tools with his reason bedeviled (折磨) by creatures that wander in the dark.The etching showed his terrible view of Spanish society.The work is held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.It is not presently on public view.
