Sunday's final season premiere (首映) of "Game of Thrones" earned HBO a record audience (观众) for the hit fantasy drama (魔幻剧) – and that's not even counting delayed viewing.
The one-hour eighth-season opener drew an average TV audience of 11.8 million viewers Sunday, HBO said. That's up from 10.1 million for the Season 7 premiere on July 16, 2017, but is down slightly from the record 12.1 million set by the Season 7 finale (结局) on Aug. 27, 2017.
When streaming (流媒体传输) on “HBO Now” and “HBO Go”, the "Thrones" premiere audience jumped to a record 17.4 million, up from 16.9 million for the Season 7 finale. (Sunday also marked the single most streaming activity in HBO history.)
All seven episodes (集) of Season 7 averaged 32.8 million including TV, streaming, DVR and on-demand viewing, its biggest total yet. This final six-episode season is ready to eclipse that figure, and continues the "Thrones" claim as the most-watched series in HBO history.
