(原创)Exploring museums is a good way to broaden your mind. Whether you plan to stop into a museum during a trip to another place or simply visit your local museum for its own sake, you will find it worthwhile. Each museum offers a unique insight into our past, present or future. On Sept 4, travel guide website Trip Advisor released a list of the top 15 museums in Asia. The Museum of Qin Terracotta Warriors and Horses took the top spot. Along with Beijing’s Forbidden City, Shanghai Museum also made it into the top 10. What makes these Chinese museums stand out?
The Museum of Qin Terracotta Warriors and Horses
It has been said in the past that going to China and not seeing the Terracotta Warriors and Horses is like going to Egypt and missing out on the Pyramids. There are more than 8, 000 life-sized terracotta figures of warriors and horses at the Chinese museum. Viewing the first emperor Qin Shihuang’s terracotta army guarding his mausoleum(陵墓)and protecting his entry to the afterlife is certainly one of the most memorable parts of any trip to Xi’an, Shaanxi.
Shanghai Museum
The scope(范围), depth and quality of its historical collections make Shanghai Museum the top museum of ancient Chinese art. It houses over 120, 000 rare cultural pieces.
But before you step in, the exterior(外部的)design of the museum is its own piece of art. The round dome(圆屋顶)and square base symbolize the ancient idea of a round heaven and a square land.
